Finding a new position is one thing, knowing what the state licensing requirements are beforehand can save you time and a lot of frustration.
At PrimeDoc we make every effort to provide our new and existing physicians with tools that make their lives easier.
Most physicians already have enough on their plates. We want our new physicians that need to obtain licensing to experience
a smooth transition to their new PrimeDoc hospitalist program. We recommend our physicians process their applications through a
service available through the Federation of State Medical Boards called FCVS. This service has proven to save our physicians time and energy
in the past with obtaining licensing. Our physicians have reported that they have received their licenses faster than through conventional
licensing. The service also offers the added benefit of having their core medical credentials centralized which can help them throughout their careers.
FCVS Overview
The Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS) was established in 1996 to provide a
centralized, uniform process for state medical boards as well as private and governmental entities to obtain a verified, primary source record of a
physician's core medical credentials. This service is designed to lighten the workload of credentialing staff and reduce duplication of effort by
gathering, verifying and permanently storing credentials in a centralized repository for physicians.
FCVS obtains primary source verification of medical education, postgraduate training,
licensure examination history, board action history, board certification and identity. This repository of information allows a physician or
physician assistant to establish a confidential, lifetime professional portfolio that can be forwarded at the physician or physician assistant's
request to any interested party, including, but not limited to: state medical boards, hospitals, managed care plans and professional societies.
