Staffing

PrimeDoc® considers the basic qualification for a hospitalist is board certification in internal medicine or actively seeking certification (board-eligible). We also recognize family practice and med-peds in certain situations.

Other qualifications that are important to our recruiting and credentialing process include:

  • Medical school and residency programs attended
  • Prior experience (in a traditional setting or a hospitalist setting)
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
  • Excellent history of quality care
  • Excellent references
  • An understanding of teamwork and the importance of interrelating well with patients, hospital staff, medical staff and hospital administrators

It is also important that our physicians understand the goal of our individual hospital program and conduct their work accordingly with efforts to:

  • Maintain quality
  • Reduce costs
  • Reduce length of stay
  • Reduce readmission rates
  • Provide documentation to assist the hospital with case mix index reporting

PrimeDoc's Recruitment Process Provides a Strategic Advantage.
All PrimeDoc physician recruitment is handled by our in-house recruitment department, which is also responsible for marketing-related efforts for our various practices. We believe our ability to recruit and retain hospitalist physicians presents a strategic advantage for our hospital clients. Many hospitalist companies are launching multiple programs simultaneously and are experiencing recruitment challenges due to laws of supply and demand: their internal demand for physicians is far greater than the supply available. This has an adverse effect and could delay projected startup times.

PrimeDoc has a systematic approach to physician recruitment. With our extensive network of hospitalist contacts, we source interested candidates, pre-screen various credentials to assure that they meet appropriate criteria, and contact references to assure clinical quality. We share this information with our client hospitals prior to the interview process.

Our recruitment process is candidate-driven and is not diluted with multiple hospital client openings across several different regions. Our philosophy is quality over quantity: We launch only about one new hospitalist program per year. This means our recruiting department can provide more attentive service and a more focused and dedicated search for our client locations. As a result, we can recruit better-qualified hospitalist physicians, assuring we meet various staffing and startup timelines.

In addition, PrimeDoc offers a unique compensation formula and an attractive private-practice model that promotes retention.

PrimeDoc Physicians Can Assist with Short-Term Staffing.
PrimeDoc also has the ability through our "cross-credentialing" process to offer physicians within our organization opportunities to temporarily staff other local PrimeDoc client hospitals on a PRN/locum basis if desired. This is our own voluntary internal locum placement (versus outsourcing), which allows our employed hospitalist physicians to generate additional moonlighting income while assisting client hospitals with short-term temporary assistance needs. More importantly, this assures that our hospitals and patients receive qualified care from an existing PrimeDoc hospitalist physician.
